September 07, 2026

Cassie Divelbiss, CPA, found her way to accounting thanks to a high school business teacher who sparked an interest that would eventually lead to her career in public tax accounting.

Today, she enjoys the variety that comes with being a tax manager at Arledge & Associates PC, from working with clients and reviewing tax returns to mentoring staff and collaborating with her leadership team.

Day in the Life

No two days look exactly the same for Cassie, and that’s one of her favorite parts of the job! Her days can include client communications, tax return reviews, mentoring staff and working with the leadership team to support the growth of her department and provide the best possible service to clients.

Why She Became a CPA

Cassie’s interest in accounting started in high school, thanks to a business teacher who showed her that accounting could be both approachable and enjoyable.

During college, she decided to pursue her CPA license and was drawn to public tax accounting because of the opportunity to work with a variety of people and businesses while helping them navigate complex tax matters.

CPA Exam Advice

Cassie’s advice for CPA candidates?

Do the hard things first! She tackled the exam sections that weren’t her strongest areas before taking REG, which she saved for later because of her experience working in tax. She also recommends finding a study method that works for you and sticking with it.

OSCPA's Role in Her Career

For Cassie, some of the biggest OSCPA benefits have been the professional networking opportunities and quality CPE programs. Mix & Mingle events helped her build confidence in networking. Plus, the connections she made through the OSCPA opened the door to getting involved with the Oklahoma City chapter.

Lunch & Learns, Town Halls and Tax Institute events have also helped her stay up to date on changes in the profession and issues affecting Oklahoma CPAs and their clients.

Fun Fact: Her Favorite Meal

“Chicken ramen, hands down!”

Cassie says chicken, broth and noodles make the perfect combination. It’s simple, comforting and, in her words, “never gets old.”
