AICPA, NASBA Launch National Study Examining Future of CPE

September 16, 2026

The accounting profession is changing and continuing professional education must continue evolving with it.  This is an opportunity to share your insights to help shape what comes next.

In conjunction with AICPA, NASBA, state boards of accountancy, and state societies across the country, Oklahoma CPAs are invited to participate in a national study examining the future of CPE for CPAs.

Conducted by an independent research firm on behalf of a joint NASBA-AICPA task force, the study will explore:

  • How CPAs maintain and develop their professional knowledge and skills
  • How well current CPE requirements support relevant, effective learning
  • What a future CPE framework should prioritize

Your experience matters. Broad participation will help ensure that future discussions reflect the different roles, practice settings, career stages, and learning needs found throughout the profession.

The survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes and must be completed by September 30, 2026.

Participation is voluntary. Responses will remain anonymous to all parties involved and will be reported only in aggregate. No identifying information will be shared with NASBA, AICPA, the task force, or participating state societies and associations.

Whether your experience with CPE has been positive, frustrating, or somewhere in between, we encourage you to share it candidly. Your perspective can help shape what comes next.

Please note: the organizations named above are working cohesively to get the word out to CPAs across the country to complete this survey. You may receive/see similar emails/social media posts.
