GH2 Architects, LLC (GH2) is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join our leadership team as we plan for an upcoming transition. We are grateful for the leadership of our current CFO and are committed to a thoughtful transition that supports continuity for our team and clients. This Tulsa-based opportunity is well suited for an experienced financial leader who can strengthen systems, develop talent, and help position our debt-free firm for continued growth. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
Founded in 1973, GH2 is a highly collaborative team passionate about providing our clients with world-class design and professional services. With offices in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, and Denver, we provide fully integrated in-house architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture services. Our firm operates with a flat organizational structure and has a diverse portfolio of work, including education, government/public, healthcare, office, non-profit, and recreation projects. GH2 maintains dedicated specialty practices in hospitality, equine, and historic preservation architecture.
GH2 team members participate in a design-oriented practice with colleagues who celebrate exceptional work, client service, and engagement with our professions and communities. They receive continuing education and professional-development opportunities tailored to their interests and career goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Strategy and Planning: Develop and execute financial strategies, manage working capital, and guide long-term growth.
- Accounting Operations and Internal Controls: Direct accounting, budgeting, forecasting, tax compliance, and general ledger accuracy. Maintain effective internal controls, financial policies, and procedures that support timely and accurate reporting.
- Liquidity, Asset, and Risk Management: Preserve GH2’s debt-free financial position and disciplined cash-based operating model. Oversee liquidity planning, capital expenditures, asset management, and financial risk-mitigation strategies. Maintain strong banking relationships and appropriate access to a line of credit or other liquidity resources as a contingency measure.
- Compliance Oversight: Manage complex multi-state payroll taxes, corporate registrations, professional liability, and other corporate insurance. Work with the firm’s outside CPA to ensure compliance with federal and multi-state tax requirements and identify appropriate tax-planning opportunities.
- Employee Benefits and Human Resources: Oversee the financial, administrative, and compliance aspects of employee benefit and retirement programs, in coordination with firm leadership and outside advisors.
- Executive Leadership and Ownership Planning: Serve as a strategic partner to the firm’s executive leadership and owners. Support leadership transitions, ownership planning, firm governance, and other significant organizational initiatives.
- Financial Reporting and Decision Support: Present clear and timely financial metrics, forecasts, scenario analyses, and decision-support models to executive leadership and firm owners. Translate financial information into actionable recommendations for operational and strategic decisions.
- Financial Systems and Team Development: Evaluate and strengthen financial systems, processes, and technology. Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team while promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 10 or more years of progressively responsible accounting and financial-management experience, including leadership responsibility.
Position Qualifications:
- Experience in an architecture, engineering, professional-services, or other project-based business environment is strongly preferred.
- CPA designation and/or MBA preferred.
- Experience with Deltek Ajera, Deltek Vantagepoint, or a comparable project-based accounting and enterprise-resource-planning system is preferred.
- Strong business acumen, ethics, and strategic thinking.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of client service and the financial dynamics of a professional-services firm.
- Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to balance urgency with thoughtful decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to financial and non-financial audiences.
- A collaborative leadership style suited to a professional, entrepreneurial, and consensus-oriented organization.
